I took a ton of fotos at work last week. I would never take fotos when I am supposed to be working!

Anyway, this is the oldest portion of our library. It has had 2 additions built on, but the original is the most beautiful and architecturally interesting.

It was built in the early 1900's with a grant from Andrew Carnegie. You may know that he helped finance many public library buildings in the U.S. I think the number was over 2,000.

These stairs lead between the bottom floor and the 1st floor. There are actually two separate stairways, you may choose the right or left. I have fotographed portions of both here.

Oh, and just so you know, it is a "priveleged" view. This area is staff only!

Gorgeous! And you work in a library? Oh, that would be wonderful!! Wed 4-Aug-2004 10:57

Thanks for sharing the library series with us. I love (LOVE!) the old architecture and the details that went into construction of public buildings 100 years ago. By contrast, many of those buildings were replaced in the 1970s during urban and city center renewal efforts, and the replacements were (are) sterile and cold. And cheap. I have been in very small towns and seen the Carnegie libraries. What a beautiful legacy. Tue 10-Aug-2004 16:52

Hornybug

After seeing this ornament on her deck, I told my sister she was getting weird and eccentric in her old age. She then informed me that it is not a dragonfly, but a hornybug.

See what I mean - eccentric, that is for sure!

Shadow wants to go outside!

As I mentioned before, I spent last weekend taking care of my sister's cat in Cleveland. Shadow is aging and has chronic kidney failure. Overall, she acts fairly "normal" in feline terms, although her health is declining. Her condition does require fluids to be given with a needle. That is why she needs a babysitter! Like most cats her days consist of eating, sleeping, laying in the window, occasional bird watching and begging to go outside, only to instantly beg to be let back in.

The life of a spoiled cat ...

Lovey photos of a lovely cat. Nice job Sat 31-Jul-2004 14:29

My sadness is reading that this cat is ill and aged and it has only so many shopping days left. My happiness is that this cat was and is in good hands for so many are treated in-humanely.
You were in Cleveland?! I'm so nosy, where, generally speaking. I live on the Eastside, Lakeshore Blvd. If permissiable my nose needs to know.

Silhouette II

Here is another of my mom's cat. The date is actually 12/2003 (hence the snowy ground!).

If I had to do it over, I would make improvements on this shot. It is one of my first ever digital fotos! Sentimental value, I suppose.

...sure have missed your shots while I've been gone....all of your entries are fantastic...my connecetion is slow, or else i'd comment on all of them individually!!! Fri 23-Jul-2004 17:09
