Get a move on

Old apartment building
New house
It has been some time since I last posted. A lot has been going on and today I'm preparing to move to a new residence! I'm both excited and anxious about these changes.

Unfortunately I am not actually purchasing my own home - just renting a room, in case you wondered.

I will not have computer access for an indefinite period, which is also unfortunate.

Baddest cat in Ohio

July 25, 2004

Like the song lyrics say, the cat came back.

I have previously posted fotos of my sister's cat, Shadow. A couple days ago, I was considering a final post in tribute to her.

I guess this post is more of a celebration in her honor because she disappeared for 7 whole days and miraculously returned! For some cats this may not be a problem. But, she is 12+ years old and ailing. As I mentioned before, my sister has been giving her fluids with a needle everyday. She just got a checkup at the vet a couple weeks ago and he says thanks to good care, she should live many more months.

Well, since she started life as a stray, she enjoys the outdoors. Plus, she prefers going outside to using her litterbox. She went out the door one evening last week and never came home.

My sister was concerned and eventually we expected the worst. Since she has kidney disease, perhaps instinct forced her away to die alone. There were many questions and confusion because she does not really act sick, and she had never left for an extended period before.

Much rejoicing occured when she was meowing on the front step after one week of absence! She lost some weight, presumably due to dehydration, but otherwise no worse for the wear.

Of course, she won't live forever (unfortunately, none of us do!), but euthanizing her will be easier than not knowing what happened during her final days.

How they worry us Tue 17-Aug-2004 00:53

"Stuff hanging outside"

At my mom's house. To me, it has a "floating" feeling about it.
Pretty little lights in my sister's backyard. I like the shadows
That title is the Lynne explanation of today's foto theme.

Just a couple black and whites I had saved.

Tomorrow - back to more flowers!

Kitten

My uncle took in a pregnant stray cat. She had a litter of three back in April.

The kittens are all a bit feral, as is the mom. I could not touch any of them, but they are extra cute - and *fast* as well!!

This little one was watching birds from the base of a tree.

Her namel is Ila, not sure how to spell it.

very cute n nice colour! Mon 9-Aug-2004 02:24

Library Treasures

only one of the double doors would open

Here is an old display case located in my division at the library. Inside are music scores and some other art tomes which are also very old (I probably should have looked into just how "old" they are, but I didn't). You will notice the date on the outside of the case is 1909.

These items have call numbers on the spines, along with the "R" designation for Reference materials which do not circulate. But they are not cataloged, so very few people even know they exist.

I have never seen anyone looking at them, although the case is unlocked and accessible to patrons.

I love old books!

What a goldmine of reading material!! Fri 6-Aug-2004 22:59

I love books and the libraries were where I spent a lot of my time in my student days. Yup, I have read most of Carnegy's paperbacks. Sat 7-Aug-2004 12:25

Outside the library - plus a few inside

View all 10 photos...
Here are the external shots of the library where I work. Before I had a car, I rode the bus downtown and walked up the front entrance everyday. Approaching the building just feels good. Now that I drive to work, I park underground in the garage and take an elevator right up to my floor ... a much more dull arrival!

The last 3 fotos are leftovers from yesterday - the color version of the 2nd floor staircase.

A gorgeous building Thu 5-Aug-2004 19:40
